Macon decided a long time ago to build for the future and city leaders have adopted a progressive attitude toward business and growth. Macon people work together in a team approach to development with active participation from both the public and private sectors. A spirit of cooperation is evident throughout the community.

Signs of our progressive attitude are reflected in Macon being named the first city in outstate Missouri to receive a designated Enterprise Zone which now encompasses an industrial park and speculative building. This enables business and industry to take advantage of a variety of tax credits depending upon their capital investment and number of employees.

Macon County Economic Development Corp. has acquired 150 acres off Hwy 36E in Macon and developed Heartland Industrial Park. The new Industrial Park has been platted and utilities are on site with some roads completed. This new Industrial Park is near the junction of Hwy 36 $63 and a very inviting location for new business and industry.

Macon also offers local incentives such as a Revolving Loan Fund which can provide a company up to $250,000 in financing for up to ten years. This innovative long term financing tool allows the city to match a company's investment in the community with a low interest loan based on the prime rate. Businesses may also qualify for other state, regional and local loans. Financial institutions in Macon strongly support our industries and represent yet another way our community works together toward a common goal.
